First of all hi ive found out about your mod cupple days ago and i cant wait for it beeing done Very Happy

i have a cupple ideas for good RMs
for example Teutoburg Forest in Germany

the map could be mountainious Terrain with alot of forest all over and a small river flowing through the center of the map, alot of animals and berry bushes on this map but no sheep or cows.
On the hills of the edges of the map where players start should be only 1 goldmine for each player so when its done you will have to move down to the river in the center map where theres alot of gold but it will be very risky to gather gold from there since your far away from your main Base and makes your villigars if not protected enough an easy target for the enemy.
No traderoute (if you even feature this on K&B) , maybe also some natives at the river (Franks possibly?)

I will certainly take this map into consideration, however the current version that we are working on will only feature the crusades. Later versions will feature Germany and other European maps.

While Dude isn't strictly right (the Prologue will also feature Greek and Balkan maps), Northern Europe is indeed reserved for the full version of K&B, which is currently still some time away. Teutoburg Forest sounds very specific, and might remind too many people of the Battle of Teutoburg Forest (which also happens to be outside our timeline), but as an idea for a German map, I don't think it's bad.

ok i think i certainly havent browsed the forums enough yet to know what will be featured in the prologue and what not Shit happens

another idea i have would be antioch or its soroundings

desert and steppe like terrain
with a small bay of the mediterainian for fishing perhaps?
lots of gold but barley any trees maybe most of them on the side of the map
no natives but a tradingroute (again if this feature is going to be availible in k&b)

and thx for the informatio about what is going to be featured in the prologue

I've got a pretty interesting location, though it's for a later version of K&B with the Vikings.

The Oresund:

The strait between Sweden and Denmark and the path to the Baltic. Of extreme strategic importance trading and safety-wise from prehistory on into modern times, the various seapaths and islands among the strait would make for extremely interesting territory control, with teams starting on the mainlands of Sweden and Denmark and fighting amphibious battles across the sound for control of a main sea-trade route winding from the Atlantic to the Baltic. One Jute settlement in Denmark and one Goth in Sweden (Gothic lineage stretches back in some accounts to the quite-important Geats of southern Sweden, of Beowulf fame, though simply another Jute settlement or an extra trading route on the Swedish side would suffice if the Goths in K&B are purely of the southernish European stock.)
In winter, battles often raged over the Oresund itself when sections of it iced over, so definitely blizzards and perhaps, if it's possible, sections of ice appearing during them could serve armies well, lending elements of surprise and possible land routes across the Sound. Plenty of resources on the two respective mainland portions, but the sea trading route down the ocean should be a decisively large advantage.

We actually have an idea for Danish Straits map already, and it is almost the same as your idea. To serve your all kinds of K&B needs, I'll post the idea here, straightly copied from team forum and you also see all the realism in our maps! Razz

Danish Straits

Sea region with a piece of land in the southwestern and northeastern part of the map, and 2-3 islands in between. Jutes and Frisians as barbarians. A naval trade route? Circular.
• ANIMALS: Deer everywhere, elk in Denmark (http://www.listofcountriesoftheworld.com/da-animals.html), moose in Sweden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Moose_distribution.png).
• HERDABLES: Cows (they just seem the best, no link).
• WATER ANIMALS: Humpback whale (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/38/Cetacea_range_map_Minke_Whale.png), Salmon.
• TREES: Maple and Birch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trees_of_Denmark).
• MINES: Silver/Copper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geography_of_Sweden#Natural_resources).

A most important and pressing question

Will you have Saigas in a Carpathian map or Wisents in, well, pretty much any part of Europe?

I actually believe my real question is:
Will you have animals that, even though were a common occurence in the middle ages, are a rare or unexistant sight in Europe these days on your random maps?

We currently have no Eastern European maps planned, actually. Using Wisents isn't really good idea, although it would be historically accurate, but bisons don't feel European at all...

And to answer your actual question, there are Spanish/Pyrenean Ibex (which are two different animals but look the same) in some Iberian maps. The Pyrenean subspecies is actually extinct nowadays and Spanish Ibex is rare too.

Also a small detail: Although modern Iceland has very few trees, in Middle Ages it was moderately forested.
