Cavalry charging bonus

Since this mod is set in Medieval era, cavalry should be something very special & powerful. I suggest you to make cavalry get a bonus when it hits the enemy unit representing the charge bonus. Historically Heavy Cavalry used to charge the enemies and caused heavy casualties. The system can be a bit similar to critical strike in TAD except that it only happens when you hit the enemy for the first time. Smile

Made this into a thread of its own, it hardly fitted the RMS subject. Never mind though, I always found it a bit odd to have a forum with just stickies, this is much nicer... Razz

Cool idea. I think I can use it for Slavs and destroy all the other civs :lol: :lol: Only problem I have with it is it could make cav civs OP'd.

Ah well i'm not much of a coder but i believe it would be possible to make it like a unit ability like the stun enemy thing that asain monks have. (i was planing to do this in tbosl but never mind then)

One response it's not. Napoleonic era did it in the marine unit.

HAHAHAHAHAHA Hardly my friend hardly. The Americans are a very good civ. me and one of my eso friends played i was swedes and he was the Americans. he's economy was so good that while mine feel his kept growing also there army isn't the best but it's rather good.

Can you please elaborate your point a bit. I played NE long time ago. I think they used to have an ability to increase their attack temporarily. Not sure though.
Charge should not be very difficult to implement unless it is hard-coded to alter the abilities of cavalry. :cavalry:

I think it is a great idea, but I agree that it might make cavalry civs OP, so the only way to balance this is to make them expensive and by only making them available in Age IV

We're focusing on the Prologue and our other 'project' right now. But most Slav bonuses will probable be Cavalry and Agriculture.

Very. The amount of work that goes into a Total Conversion mod is enormous. And most of the work is done by modding master, Robert Faber .(aka, peugot407) I'm working on maps and some other codding jobs, but really the Prologue is huge. Hell, I'm learning new things everyday about the mod. :lol:

Idea Make heavy cavalry more expensive, available only in limited numbers. Light cavalry charge bonus would be small so heavy infantry/spears could easily defeat it. However heavy cavalry charge would defeat heavy infantry but will get heavy losses from spears. Still one spear would loose to heavy cavalry but enmassed spears (much cheaper) will defeat heavy cavalry without any problem.
