Steam Installation?

Post by Browninb on Sun 14 Apr 2013 - 9:14

Sorry in advance if this is topic is in the wrong place, but I have the complete AOE III collection through the aforementioned service.
After unzipping the rar I followed the installation instructions ( put the RM3 in my games/AOE III folder, the "to program files" contents
into the AOE III folder bin in steamapps).

Was I not supposed to merge folders, because the mod starts, but I have no villagers in skirmish. There aren't any other mods, & I've already started a reinstall. Any help would be appreciated because the game looks great.

A little update, I did the reinstall, clicked & dragged to transfer the files rather than extract them en mass, & its still the vanilla town centers with no villagers, upgrades or HC cards

I'm definitely got something wrong

I have no idea, as I don't have a steam version. Where is the directory of your files?

Sure

C:Program files(x86)Steam/Steamapps/common/AOE III/bin

I also have the improvement mod for TAD which I have backed up & removed into a separate directory before starting. It's installed in nearly the same way, and functions.

I know exactly what the problem is, I have Steam AoE3. Browninb, go through your "data" folder in the AoE3 bin and delete every .XMB file. Every one. Should work fine after that, I'm not exactly sure why it acts funny with them included and it doesn't hurt anything to remove them. Let me know if that doesn't work.

It works fine without deleting any .XMB file in steam, and the directory is:

C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam|steamapps\common\Age Of Empires 3\bin

Thanks, I'll give it a shot after work.

Good day,I'm having a problem installing K&B on my friends steam version of AOE3,when everything is fully installed, the skirmish still shows the vanilla civs such as Chinese but with a Crusader icon and one is unable to pick new cards.

Okay... Sounds like it might be an issue with the My Documents files.
