2012: 1.8 GHZ dual core 3.5 GB CPU 256 MB graphics card 75 GB HDD 2005 laptop refurbished Windows Vista 32 bit OS flat screen 768x1280 60p
Internet- Clear 4G WiMax using internal WiFi antenna in laptop - 7.5 Mbps off peak, 4.5 Mbps peak

high poly models, high quality textures, V sync off, anti alias off, water reflections off, foot prints off, bloom effect off, shader quality at minimum, resolution 480x640 60p

2013-May 2014: Same laptop above with some tweaks

high poly models, high quality textures, V sync on, anti alias on, water reflections on, foot prints on, bloom effect on, shader quality at maximum, resolution 480x640 60p for competitive game play and resolution 768x1280 60p for cinematic game play and screen shots

May 2014 - : 3.5 GHZ dual core 8 GB CPU 4 GB GPU 1 TB HDD desktop PC built in 2013 Windows 7 64 bit OS flat screen 1080x1920 60p
Internet- Clear 4G WiMax with 4x4 WiFi antenna router and parabolic reflector antenna connected to PC - 14 Mbps off peak, 8 Mbps peak

high poly models, high quality textures, V sync on, anti alias on, water reflections on, foot prints on, bloom effect on, shader quality at maximum, resolution 1080x1920 60p for both competivive game play and cinematic game play and screen shots.

Actually, I don't think Windows Millenium Edition is even supported by the game. Maybe that's why it wouldn't install on that computer. Maybe that's ES's way of telling you you are an idiot if your still running Windows Millenium Edition with an 8 MB graphic card in 2010 and expecting to play games on it. I did initially play ESO on dial-up though, so it is possible to play AoE3 multiplayer on dial-up.

The minimum specs I'm reading off of the TAD retail case right now are:
OS - Windows XP or higher 256 MB RAM Processor 1.4 GHZ 2 GB free HDD space (plus space for AoE3) Video card 64 MB Online 56k dial-up or LAN

So it looks like the computers AoE3 didn't work on at all didn't have the minimum CPU or graphics card memory or processor speed.

I don't play AOE III. I mod it.

Interesting.  I wonder how often modders just play AoE3 for fun not for play testing or scenario editor testing.

In 2013 I don't think I played AoE3 once that wasn't for play testing or scenario editor testing.

Now I'm making up for it by I've played Wotta for 12 hours in the past 2 days.

I guess its kind of similar to musicians. I know musicians who don't even listen to their genre much at all just for fun and only write music.

that's the reason playtesters are needed Wink. I did also barely played K&B and other mods. The only exceptions are Wotta^^ which I played for like 30 hours and my scenarios which i also enjoyed pretty much.

thought i always had a decent system for AOE3.

...and that's ought to be the largest problem in Aoe3 modding right now. Mods tend to make features that sound cool on paper but in-game, they don't really make an impact or are very unbalanced. And yes, this currently applies to all major mods, sadly. But that's not the purpose of this topic.
